1. Nature’s Tree
MATERIALS
• Oranges
• Pinecones from 1 to 6 inches
• Florist’s wire
• Kumquats
• Feather tree
INSTRUCTIONS
Cut oranges into very thin slices.
Lay the slices on a baking sheet
and place in an oven set on the
lowest temperature (125°F to
200°F) for six hours. Remove
oranges from the oven when the
slices have only a slight amount of
moisture left and are still orange in
color. Lay the dried orange slices
on paper towels overnight to
absorb any extra moisture.
Sort the pinecones by size from
largest to smallest. Thread wire
through the top of the pinecones
and wire them to the tree with
the largest cones on the bottom
branches. Trim the wire ends.
Continue wiring the pinecones to
the tree in order by size.
Push a short length of wire
through each orange slice and
kumquat. Wire the fruit to the tree,
and trim the wire ends.
2. Bountiful
Baskets
MATERIALS
• 12-inch square basket
• 11-inch round basket
• 9-inch round basket
• Florist’s foam for
artificial arrangements
• Glue gun and hotmelt adhesive
• 10 to 12 juice oranges, whole
cloves, kumquats
• Pinecones in assorted
sizes from 1 to 6 inches
• Wooden florist’s picks
• Assorted greenery
• Seeded eucalyptus
• Small pillar candle and holder
INSTRUCTIONS
Choose three baskets that will
stack with the largest on the
bottom to the smallest on top.
Cut blocks of florist's foam to fill
each basket. For the center of the
largest basket, cut a circular piece
of foam the size of the medium-
size-basket bottom and an inch
higher than the largest basket's
sides. (A) Place the foam in the
large basket and then glue it to
